NOFD rescues worker trapped in trench

Members of the New Orleans Fire Department rescued an injured cement worker trapped in a trench on private land Thursday morning.
According to a press release from the NOFD, firefighters responded to a medical call at 13201 Old Gentilly Road shortly after 9:30 a.m.
They found the adult male trapped in the approximately 10 feet deep trench.  
Additional companies trained in Confined Space Rescue techniques were called to the scene. They stabilized the worker with a spine board and c-collar in a Stokes basket before pulling him to safety. 
He was conscious at the time of the rescue and was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. The nature of his injuries were unknown at this time.
