State lawmakers failed to agree on a tax and spending plan, so they go home from the special legislative session with the future unclear just weeks before the end of the fiscal year.

The Louisiana House and Senate could not agree on how much sales tax to renew.

So, it remains unclear if higher education, health care, the TOPS scholarship and other programs will be funded or not.

Legislators will have to convene in a third special session before July 1st to try again.

Loud booing and shouting filled the capitol as time ran out at midnight.

Rep. Alan Seabaugh was filibustering in closing moments.

The task of finding hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes or cuts remains unfinished.
