Nighttime murder in Slidell yields two arrests

St. Tammany Parish homicide investigators have pieced together the motive and what happened around 9:30 Saturday night near the intersection of Jones Road and Hale Lane.

Sheriff's deputies arrived to find a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.  While at the scene a person was detained for questioning.

Detectives later arrested the man, 19-year-old Montreal Delaney on charges of second degree murder and possessing a firearm without a serial number.

Detectives surmise Delaney, an alleged drug dealer, was lured to the location by the victim and accomplice Ferdinand Everidge.

Once at the location, the victim and Everidge attempted to rob Delaney and an altercation ensued and both Delaney and Everidge fired weapons.

The unidentified victim was hit, he was later transported to a hospital where he died of his wounds.

The victim's accomplice Ferdinand Everidge was also arrested and is facing charges of attempted armed robbery and aggrevated assault.
