The Saints have improved to 12 - 2 with a win over the Panthers.

The victory over Carolina means the Saints need just one more win to secure the top seed in the NFC playoffs and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

"It was so huge!" Saints QB Drew Brees said. "Next week's game against Pittsburgh is going to be even bigger."

With 12 wins, the Saints are in control.  The Rams are 11 - 3.  The Bears are 10 - 4.

Getting a 13th win will guarantee that neither team can catch them, since the Saints have the tie breaker over L.A.

The Saints remaining games are both in the Superdome.  They face the Steelers (8-5-1) and the Panthers (6-8) again.

Losses by the Rams and the Bears would also give the Saints the top NFC spot in the postseason.

The Rams remaining games are at the Cardinals (3-11) and hosting the 49ers (4-10).

Chicago has two road games left at the 49ers (4-10) and at the Vikings (7-6-1).
