New Orleans Police investigating two overnight murders

The NOPD is investigating Saturday morning murders in St. Claude and Central City.

A shooting that occurred in the 1200 block of Louisa Street left an adult male dead.

About 1:15 a.m., Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area. The victim was located outside and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital via EMS and later pronounced dead at the hospital.

A short time later, another murder was discovered in the 2200 block of Amelia Street.

At around 1:50 a.m., Sixth District officers responded to a call of a vehicle that crashed into a wooden utility pole. Officers arrived to find an adult male inside a gray Chevrolet Camaro, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper torso. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigators are still currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in both incidents, as well as motives.
