Cats or no cats, council wants answers on Entergy outages

Monday's cat-caused power outage has Entergy customers asking how this keeps happening.

Time and again the power goes out in fair weather.

They also want to know what is the company doing to stop it?

It's something that New Orleans city officials have been asking, too.

"We have received a report on how their distribution system is really in ill-repair," utilities committee chairwoman Helena Moreno told WWL's Newell Normand last July. "The majority of outages happening in the city of New Orleans happen during fair weather."

Although Entergy says stray animals interrupting power is rare, it has happened before: a squirrel got the blame for an outage in August, 2016.

Moreno's office says they expect to get analysis on reliability by the end of next month, and they find interruptions like yesterday's to be unacceptable.
