The New Orleans City Council has moved forward with revisions to laws and rules for streets closed due to flooding.

The idea is to use the city's flood warning system cameras to capture images of drivers illegally moving barriers or driving down flooded streets, pushing water into homes or businesses, causing flood damage.

Drivers will be ticketed and fined if they are caught by the system.

City Council members are also urging residents or business owners who catch anybody moving barriers or driving down flooded streets to report them to the New Orleans Municipal and Traffic Court.
