Murder victim fished out of Harvey drainage canal

Reports of gunshots brought Jefferson Parish Sheriff's to a residential street in Harvey last night.  The shots rang out just before 10pm on the corner of Glasgow and Scottsdale Drives.  

Unable to find any immediate evidence, arriving deputies conducted a search of the area.  They found the body of a man partially floating in a canal nearby at Brown Avenue and Ethel Lane Street.  

According to Captain Jason Rivarde, The body was pulled from the canal and an initial examination showed the man had been shot several times.  Investigators initially concluded the victim died from multiple gunshot wounds. 

It is not known how the victim ended up in the canal, whether he crawled to the canal to escape or was gunned down in or around the canal.  

The victim remains unidentified at this time as the investigation into their killing is getting going.    

Jefferson Parish Sheriff's say there is no suspect or motive information available.
