Jim Chesko reporting...

Stocks finished in positive territory for the third-straight day, with the Dow Jones Industrials rising about 163 points and the Nasdaq Composite gaining 49.

Crude-oil prices fell slightly. February crude slipped 24 cents to settle at $52.07 a barrel.

Residential customers of Entergy Louisiana will be getting a little break on their bills over the next three months. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission ruled that the utility has to refund $58 million to customers, after the state’s Public Service Commission said Entergy violated a power-sharing agreement. The refunds, which will show up as credits on January, February and March bills, will average $5.50 a month for typical customers.

Despite worries about slowing economic growth, there’s new evidence that the U-S labor market remains robust. Initial jobless claims declined by 3,000 last week to a seasonally adjusted 213-thousand.
