New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell discussed the 2019 budget this afternoon and said they wanted to get a better understanding of what the priorities are that are aligned with the people of New Orleans.

"Public safety, infrastructure, that is physical infrastructure as well as human infrastructure," Cantrell said.  "Of course the overall quality of life, cleaning up the city of New Orleans, ensuring that our New Orleans Police Department receives the resources necessary to be more effective, but not just looking  at public safety through the lens of the police department but through the lens of public health and also holistically as it relates to our criminal justice system again as a whole."

Cantrell said she knows they have taken the best step forward to ensure that 2019 will be brighter for the citizens of New Orleans.

The New Orleans City Council today okayed a budget for 2019 - that comes in a few million dollars MORE than what Mayor LaToya Cantrell requested.
