We are less than 100 days to Mardi Gras, but where do we stand when it come to parades in Jefferson Parish.   There has been much talk about the parades taking a different route,  even going down Vets but in a different direction, in other words starting around Bonnabel Blvd. and moving towards the west down Veterans Memorial Blvd.

"My understanding from talking to some of the krewe captains who contacted me and reached out to me had a really positive response, some of the traditional krewes had some reservations," said Dominick Impastato, Councilman District 4 in Jefferson Parish.

He said a proposal was made a while back.

"A proposal was presented to the captains particularly by a committee that was put together by Councilwoman (Jennifer) Van Vrancken, District 5," Impastato said.

But no decision yet, although Impastato said it could still happen, even with Mardi Gras just around the corner. The Krewe of Little Rascals parade kicks off the season in Metairie February 17 and ends Mardi Gras day on March 5 with Argus and 2 truck parades.
