According to Accountemps, 58 percent of folks plan to take their vacations during the summer months of June, July, and August.  This takes preparation by companies to be prepared when they're employees are out.

Business and Finance professor at UNO, Mark Rosa, says it really is part of a supervisors evaluation to have a plan in place when so many are taking off for summer vacation.

You really have to prepare for your workers to take some time off, and that's gotta be planned out through the year,"  Rosa said.  "You have to have coverage, so that it is all planned and it doesn't hurt the business from a service standpoint, and that's got to be in the equation, to let the employees have some breaktime and the business doesn't suffer."

But what about those smaller businesses?  Is it harder for them when their employees take off?

"The bigger companies probably can handle it a little better but I've see the proverbial 'mom and pop' type businesses, where some businesses simply close where the owner is the business and they have such a short staff, the owner will simply close for a week," Rosa noted.

The largest amount of time taken off during the summer is anywhere from on full week to up to 2 weeks.
