Man wanted for murdering mother with fire arrested

New Orleans police say they have identified a suspect in a brutal killing of an elderly woman. Authorities believe the suspect burned the victim to death. Erik Beasley, 39, has been booked on a charge of second degree murder.

The deadly blaze happened Friday in the 4700 block of Corinne Street just after 10:30pm. 

"After the fire was extinguished, the body of an elderly female was discovered inside the location."

The New Orleans Fire Department said the victim was burned over 90 percent of her body.

Her body was next to a chair which was almost completely burned. 

"The victim was visibly deceased upon NOFD arrival and the damage was contained to the chair and the victim."
