New Orleans Police say a carjacking victim told them he shot his attacker.

It happened in the 1000 of Milan Street, near St. Charles and Napoleon.

The 62-year-old victim told cops that he and another man were getting out of the car when they were approached by two men in masks.

"Victim #2 produced a handgun and fired his weapon towards one of the subjects, striking him in the abdomen," according to the NOPD Major Offense Log.

That's when the other victim ran to the nearby police station.

"One of the subjects fled in the victim's silver Infinity and the other subject, who was shot, fled on foot and is still at large."
