Friday night murder in Metairie

Cops say a man is dead after a shooting in Metairie Friday night.

It happened on Causeway Blvd. between Airline Drive and Earhart Expressway at Lausat Street.

The report of gunfire came in just before 7:00pm.

Shortly after 9:30pm, JPSO notified the media that the 21-year-old victim had died at the hospital.

Police released the following:

Sheriff Joseph Lopinto reports that JPSO is investigating a homicide that occurred earlier tonight in Metairie. At approximately 6:47 pm, First District deputies were dispatched to the intersection of S. Causeway Blvd. and Lausat Street in reference to a shooting. Arriving units located 21-year-old Metairie resident on scene suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

There is no suspect or motive information available at this time.
