Man dies in I-10 Highrise crash

New Orleans Police say a crash took the life of a man on Interstate 10 Monday night.

"The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality on I-10 East Highrise," according to an email from the public information office.

There were not many details initially available.

"Initial reports show one male victim has died as a result of this incident."

Cops sent notification of the crash just before 8:00pm.

NOPD later released the following:

At 6:37 p.m., NOPD officers responded to a call of an accident with injury on Interstate-10 East Highrise. Upon arrival, officers were notified that an adult male motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on I-10 when he struck the back of a trailer that was attached to another vehicle, at which time the victim was ejected from the motorcycle. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later died.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
