A 39-year-old man is in custody after sheriff's deputies say he threatened to bring a gun with him to the school where his estranged wife works.

Tangipahoa Parish Public Schools Superintendent Melissa Stilley said the man sent a threatening text message to the employee at Vineyard Elementary School in Ponchatoula, made the threats.

"It is basically a domestic violence deal," said Stilley. "As a precaution, our principal called the sheriff's department."

She says as a precaution, campus was locked down, but all faculty, staff, and students were safe.
