A Louisiana man has been arrested by authorities who say he set fire to a trailer owned by his former in-laws.

KATC-TV reports the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal says 41-year-old Nelson Santignan was taken into custody Monday, a year after the blaze by St. Martin Parish sheriff's deputies.

Spokeswoman Ashley Rodrigue said in a news release that investigators were called to determine the cause of the July 2018 fire in Breaux Bridge. Investigators found the fire was set intentionally.

Rodrigue says witness statements revealed Santignan was the homeowner's former son-in-law and he was seen leaving the trailer as smoke started billowing out.  A warrant had been issued for his arrest.

It's unclear whether Santignan had an attorney.
