The jobless rate for Louisiana in July held steady at 4.3 percent, that's the same figure as last month.

Louisiana Workforce Commission Secretary Ava Dejoie says it's exciting to see such a healthy job market.

''There are jobs out there for even for those who may not be working now, there are more jobs out there, so it is a job seekers market,'' said Dejoie.

Dejoie says New Orleans showed the biggest year to year gain with a boost in some 8200 jobs.

Louisiana U.S. Senator John Kennedy says he just doesn't understand why some experts are talking about a recession.

''Unemployment is at a record low, we have the lowest unemployment we've had since Woodstock, the lowest African American unemployment ever lowest and lowest Hispanic unemployment ever,'' Kennedy said.

As far as job gains Dejoie says New Orleans showed the biggest year to year gain up some 8,200 jobs.
