The next few weeks will be extremely busy at Armstrong International Airport beginning this Memorial Day weekend.

Busiest travel days are today with many returning on Sunday and Monday.  Erin Burns communications director at the airport says you're going to need to be prepared and be patient.

"Plan ahead and give yourself some extra time," Burns said.  "At least 2 hours if you are traveling domestically, 3 hours for international travel.  It's really going to make a difference when you are coming up this weekend."

She says about 650 thousand passengers are expected to travel through the airport in the next 14 days.

It's actually 60 thousand more passengers compared to the same period last year," Burns noted.

Burns says this is the time with kids out of school that its gets quite busy,  not only this weekend but next weekend too.  But it all begins today.

"Memorial weekend is one of the busiest periods for us, right up there with the Thanksgiving holiday," she added.

She says there are times when parking lots are full so check with the airport to find out when they are full.
