Local American Idol contestant headed to Hollywood

Faith Becnel is going to Hollywood.  The Louisiana singer won a golden ticket from the judges on the American Idol show that aired Sunday night.

Her bio on her website says, "Faith Becnel is a young, dynamic vocalist and entertainer."

The singer from Destrehan leaves Monday to compete to get on the live American Idol shows.

She has performed on stage with Louisiana Legends and bands including Vince Vance and the Valiants, Rockin’ Dopsie Jr., Al “Carnival Time” Johnson, The Top Cats, Five Finger Discount, Benny Grunch and the Bunch, Cullen Landry and the Midnight Streetcar, Judy Spellman, among others.

"Faith has performed throughout Louisiana and surrounding states at events such as French Quarter Fest, Louisiana Crawfish Fest, Redfish Fest, Oyster Fest, Andouille Fest, Monster Mash, Alligator Fest, Cruisin’ the Coast, Audubon Zoo, Orpheus Ball, Lundi Gras, Zeus Parade, Earth Fest, New Orleans Yacht Club, All State Sugar Bowl Gala, and several television and radio appearances on WGNO, WWL, New with a Twist and more. Faith is often asked to sing her outstanding versions of the National Anthem, and God Bless America at many special events or sports games.
