The little league champions from the River Ridge will meet President Donald Trump today at the White House in Washington D.C.

The team claimed a world championship victory in August and Head Coach Scott Frazier says it all started at a press conference with a suggestion that the team should get a trip to DC if they were victorious.

“When I said that in the press conference thought that if we won the whole thing that we would have that shot because Steve Scalise was from Metairie,” says Frazier.

The team is based in the suburbs of New Orleans and is the first team from the area to achieve the championship. Frazier credits House Republican Whip Steve Scalise for helping orchestrate the trip and says the meeting with President Trump will be very exclusive as the team will be in the Oval Office.

“It’s limited to the players, the coaches, and a few league representatives that are allowed to go into that office,” says Fraizer.

Frazier says he hasn’t seen much of the team since learning of the trip to DC but says the are an excitable group, so it stands to reason they’re pumped for the opportunity.

“I would imagine that they are as excited as everyone else about going to visit the President, there’s no doubt,” says Fraizer.

Following the visit, the President will fly to Louisiana for a Gubernatorial Primary rally.
