Line of thunderstorms sends local streets under

New Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard under flood advisory

A line of heavy thunderstorms trained over the south shore early this afternoon, causing street flooding in parts of New Orleans and Jefferson Parish.

"Numerous reports of street flooding in New Orleans," said WWL-TV meteorologist Alexandra Cranford. "Heavy rain has come down and our totals right now at our Weather Link 4 sites are up to 3.7 inches at Metairie, 3.45 at Chalmette and more than 3 inches in the city of New Orleans."
