It was a grand scene at the Saints facility today as the team announced that Lance Moore and Pierre Thomas have been selected to be enshrined into the team’s Hall-of-Fame. Both were undrafted player whom Coach Sean Payton said were basically the same player, but at different positions.

"You’re going to hear the same things from me," Payton said when talking about both players. “You’re going to hear reliability, smart, tough, clutch, the epitome of what we were looking for as we began to build in ’06 a playoff team and later in ’09 a Super Bowl team.”

Moore played wide receiver for the Saints from 2005-13. His first year was spent on the practice squad after getting released by the Browns.  Over his 9 year career in Black and Gold, Moore was known for his precise route running and reliable hands. He thanked Payton for giving him an opproityunity since he was undersized at 5'9 and didn’t have blazing speed.  How did he last 11 total years in the NFL?

"I was blessed. I had talent," replied Moore.  “But my mentality was play as if you still haven’t made it. That was from day one until the day I decide to hang em up.”

Moore said his best friend on the Saints while he was playing was Thomas, so he found it rather fitting they were getting honored together.

The “PT Bruiser” wore the Fleur-de-lis from 2007-14.  He is often talked about as one of the best running backs in the history of the game when it came to executing the screen pass. His patience was uncanny, and he fought hard for every single yard.

"To play for this organization has been a blessing," said Thomas. "The fans have always been there for us when times were tough and in the good times. That’s one thing I will never take for granted. I love these fans so much."

In addition, Saints Director of Photography Michael C. Hebert has been chosen to receive the Joe Gemelli “Fleur de Lis” award for his vast contributions to the organization. The events surrounding the induction of Moore and Thomas along with the recognition of Hebert will take place in conjunction with the home game against the Cleveland Browns, which is on September 16th.
