Mardi Gras is returning to Kenner after a 28-year absence. The city and the Krewe of Isis announced plans to parade in 2020.

"The krewe of Isis has decide to come to the city of Kenner to parade," said Kenner Mayor Ben Zahn.

Zahn called it a homecoming -- the all female krewe began in Kenner in the 1970s before it moved to Metairie, where it had paraded for 40 years.

Isis captain Sherrell Gorman joked that it was a badly kept secret, but they're happy to be parading in Kenner

"Mayor Zahn shared that his goal as mayor was to have something with a major impact in Kenner by 2020," said Gorman. "This is a big one."

Gorman said as a krewe, their main focus was to continue Mardi Gras in Jefferson Parish.

Isis becomes Kenner's first parade since 1992. It will roll in Kenner on Saturday, February 22.
