The Kenner City Council today is expected to vote to support upholding a ban barring Jefferson Parish President Mike Yenni from school buildings and functions.  Yenni would like to see the ban overturned.

Maria C. DeFrancesch, Councilwoman-At-Large, Division A in Kenner said this is not an ordinance but a resolution

"The resolution's a request, and what we're doing is the mayor as well as the council is requesting that the school board not lift the ban that prevents Mike Yenni from going to school grounds, school functions, school events, etc," DeFrancesch said.
Yenni has indicated he would like to see the bans overturned, but several school board members have said they would not vote to overturn it.

"Right now this one, at least at this point in time only deals with school property, so we're talking about, again, school grounds of any kind whether it's on playgrounds or park or anything owned by the school system," she noted.

Back in 2016 Yenni was banned after it was revealed he was being investigated for sending lewd and inappropriate texts to a then 17 year old boy.

The Kenner City Council meeting will be held at 5 p.m. at 1801 Williams Blvd.
