While the bells and whistles of the new airport terminal get all the attention today, Kenner authorities are keeping a close eye on traffic on Loyola Drive, where all airport traffic now ends up.

Before anyone gets to the airport, all eyes will be on the I-10 westbound off-ramp at Loyola Drive.

"We're anticipating a large increase in traffic in and around that intersection," said Kenner Police Chief Michael Glaser. Glaser says officers will be nearby to jump in and start directing traffic if necessary.

"We have officers scheduled to arrive early in the morning to address any traffic issues, but we do expect a lot of congestion," said Glaser.

Meantime, he expects local drivers to avoid Loyola around I-10 and Veterans, which he says will mean more traffic on Williams Boulevard in that area.
