Kenner's Rivertown Lundi Gras Celebration kicks off this morning.

They've been doing this fro some time, now.

"This our 20th year of the Lundi Gras celebration when the courts come to meet us...the Royal Court of Argus and the Royal Court of the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club of New Orleans."

Kenner Mayor, Ben Zahn, says he and Police Chief Mike Glaser, along with the Kenner City Council, will meet the courts at 11 a.m., and toast the royalty of both organizations.

It'll be the first appearance of this year's Mardi Gras royalty.

"We'll do a second line parade after we do the presentations of the two courts, down to the parking lot area where the band Mojeaux will be playing," says Zahn.

The second-line parade, from the end of Williams Boulevard near the Mississippi River, begins about 11:45 a.m.

Mojeaux will be playing at the free party from 11 to 3.

In addition to the concert, there will be vendors selling food and crafts.

"This is a wonderful tradition for our city, and a great way to really get into the Carnival spirit," says Zahn. "Lundi Gras is also a fantastic way to show off Rivertown. I encourage everyone to stop by and enjoy a tremendous free party."

Kenner's Rivertown is located at 400 Williams Boulevard.
