Despite his strong support for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Louisiana U.S. Senator John Kennedy says he still wants to hold the scheduled hearing on Monday to hear from both sides in the sex assault allegations.

During a morning conference call with reporters, Kennedy questioned what Kavanaugh's accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, wants to do.

"Dr. Ford has changed her mind again and doesn't want the public hearing and I think it's reasonable she will change her mind again," Kennedy said.

Senator Kennedy says he spoke personally with Judge Kavanaugh and says he remains absolute in his strong denial about the allegations against him and saying it never happened.

''He is not angry, he didn't have anything bad to say about anybody, he is ready to testify,'' said Kennedy.

Kennedy says the hearing schedule set for Monday should proceed and that he hopes Dr. Ford makes an appearance.
