JPSO: Biological father kidnaps child, threatens harm

December 17, 2016 - 3:46 pm
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office has put out an endangered child alert for a 3-week-old infant. Officials says the baby boy's father kidnapped the child from the mother Friday after threatening her with a gun.

Investigators say 24-year-old Cameron Davis, biological father to 3-week-old Kingston Davis, had gone to the boy's house to visit his mother.

"At some point during the visitation, an altercation took place between Davis and the child's mother," said JPSO spokesman Col. John Fortunato. "Soon thereafter, Davis took the infant and left the home for a short time."

According to the sheriff's office, Davis returned a short time later, brandishing a gun and making threats. He then left with the child in an unknown vehicle, with an unknown driver.

"The mother ultimately made contact with Davis the following day.  It was at that time Davis stated that he should have killed the baby while the mother was pregnant," Fortunato said. "Davis stated he would return the child, only if the mother would drop the pending domestic violence charges against him.  Davis also told the mother that if she sent the police for him, he would use the child for a shield, admitting that he would kill the child before being taken into custody."

The child's mother told deputies that Davis had purchased a bus ticket to Houston, Texas, and would be leaving the state shortly.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Cameron Davis or his son, Kingston Davis, is asked to call JPSO Personal Violence Detective Judd Harris or Lt. Curtis Matthews at (504) 364-5300 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
