JP leaders to announce new Mardi Gras plan

What is the plan to change Mardi Gras parades and celebrations in Metairie?

"After months of planning (officials) will reveal new plans for Family Gras and Jefferson Parish carnival krewes at a media conference on Tuesday," according to a news release.

Officials will make the announcement at Clearview Mall.

"The media conference will take place at 3PM at the Clearview Center party room on the first floor of the mall near the food court."

A number of leaders will be on hand.  

"Jefferson Parish Councilwoman Jennifer Van Vrancken, Parish President Mike Yenni and Jefferson Convention and Visitors Bureau President Violet Peters." 

We recently talked to Jefferson Parish Councilman Dominick Impastato.  He told WWL First News that one of the plans floated to krewe captains called for reversing the parade route by starting at Bonnabel Blvd. and rolling down Veterans Blvd. to the Clearview Mall.

There was also talk of moving Family Gras to the end of the new route and holding it in the parking lot at Clearview Mall.
