John Ehret high school in Marrero was put on lockdown Thursday morning after multiple fights broke out.

This was the last day of school for the semester and classes were scheduled to end just after noon.

A large number of deputies was sent to the school when the fights were reported.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto said that one of the 13 students arrested after the fights had a gun. That student's arrest was not related to the other 12 arrests for fighting.

Lopinto said seven of the suspects taken into custody were male and six were female. Those arrested included both adults and juveniles.

Several more arrests are expected. No students were injured. The campus will remain on lockdown for the rest of the school day.
