Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office deputy shot in Metairie

A deputy sheriff was shot in the 6400 block of Veterans Memorial Boulevard in Metairie Sunday night.

The sheriff's department says it is searching for 38-year-old Tyronne Louis, their prime suspect.

"The deputy responded to a disturbance in the 6400 block of Veterans Boulevard in Metairie.  One of the persons involved in the disturbance,  Louis, attempted to flee from the location. As the deputy gave chase, Louis pulled a firearm and fired several times," the sheriff's office said in a statement early Monday.  

"JPSO is being assisted by the Louisiana State Police, FBI-New Orleans Office, US Marshals Service-New Orleans Field Office, and ATF-New Orleans Field Office in our attempts to find Louis."

The injured deputy is in stable condition, but suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
