The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival announced the lineup for it's fiftieth fest. As rumored, The Rolling Stones will play at the Fairgrounds Thursday, May 2.

Also performing this year is pop superstar Katy Perry, set to perform Saturday, April 27.

The huge lineup also includes the Dave Matthews Band, Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, Santana, Pitbull, Van Morrison, Al Green, Earth, Wind & Fire, John Fogerty, Alanis Morissette, Bonnie Raitt, Tom Jones, The Doobie Brothers, Chaka Kahn, Herbie Hancock, Ciara, and many others.

The Rolling Stones' performance will present some changes that Jazz Fest hasn't attempted before, said festival producer Quint Davis.

"It will be a normal festival day, pretty much. All the stages will be running. That day's Mavis Staples, Ziggy Marley, Tom Jones," said Davis.

"They will come down for the start of the English band," said Davis, referring to the Stones. "There's a separate ticket to that day. It will be limited to the number of people who can comfortably fit in front of that stage."

That separate ticket for Thursday, May 2, is $185. Louisiana residents are being offered a special opportunity to buy those tickets this Thursday, a day earlier than the rest of the world.

Tickets for the general public go on sale Friday, January 18. Single day tickets for every other day of the festival are $85 at the gate, with discounts depending on how far in advance they are purchased. There will also be $50 tickets for Louisiana residents with valid identification available at the gate on opening day, April 25.

There will, of course, be a host of locally-grown superstars, including Aaron Neville, Trombone Shorty, The Radiators, Better Then Ezra, Kermit Ruffins, The Revivalists, and Big Freedia, just to name a handful.

Jazz Fest 50 opens Thursday, April 25, and closes Sunday, May 5.
