While there are some hopeful numbers showing the number of teenagers who smoke cigarettes is coming down but there is also evidence that using electronic cigarettes or vaping is on the rise.

It maybe that teens think vaping is safer but Dr. Edward Trapido with LSU Health New Orleans says that's not likely.

"One JUUL has the equivalent of 20 cigarettes in terms of nicotine, so a very high dose of nicotine," said Trapido.

Trapido ads on vaping we still don't know that much.

"They will get people hooked and there other hazards that are still being evaluated," Trapido said.

He also worries that young people are opting for vaping because companies have come out with enticing flavors and colors which are bound to attract the young set.
