Hurricane Harvey is forecast to make landfall near Corpus Christi, Texas late tonight or early tomorrow morning. After that, the forecast gets fuzzy -- but the storm is likely to drench eastern Texas, including Houston.

Listen to the Voice of the LSU Fighting Tigers Chris Blair with WWL's Don Dubuc:

That has LSU fans wondering if it could affect the LSU-Baylor football game. The Fighting Tigers season opener is set for an 8:30 p.m. kickoff at Houston's NRG Stadium.

"As we stand right now, the game is still on," said Chris Blair, the voice of the LSU Tigers. "The monitoring of the situation is underway."

LSU released the following statement today:

First and foremost, our thoughts and best wishes are with our neighbors in South Texas and of course with our friends and family here in South Louisiana as Hurricane Harvey draws near. We know all too well the challenges of facing a storm of this magnitude and stand ready to assist in any way we can.

The season-opening football game against BYU in Houston September 2nd remains as scheduled. We are actively monitoring the situation in South Texas and will be in regular contact with Houston officials and NRG Stadium representatives to fully assess conditions on the ground while keeping a close eye on developments here in Louisiana as the storm unfolds.
