Gunfire in Jefferson leaves 62-year-old dead, two other people wounded


Cops got the call to the area near Jefferson Highway and Causeway just after midnight.

"Sheriff Joseph Lopinto reports that the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that left one man dead, and a man and a woman injured," Captain Jason Rivarde said in an email. "Around 12:20 am this morning, deputies were dispatched to a reported shooting in the 2800 block of Clermont St. in Jefferson."

He says they found three victims inside an apartment.

"All three were transported to a local hospital for treatment where the decedent, a 62-year-old male, succumbed to his injuries. The other two victims, a 57-year-old male and 55-year-old female, are in stable condition. All were suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds."

Rivarde said they were working to determine suspect and motive information.
