Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards says now more than ever, it is important that people minimize contact with one another. The state is looking at running out of room in hospitals to treat everyone who needs it as coronavirus infections increase.

The governor said today that the federal government is helping them add hospital capacity, including staff.

"The president announced that he had granted our request related to two, 250-bed federal field hospitals," said Edwards, "in addition, they will send on public health service strike team of 60 individuals."

The governor also made note of the death of a 17-year-old coronavirus patient.

"There is an investigation undergoing by the coroner now," the governor said. "It does illustrate the point that everyone is at risk."

A family member told WWL First New that the patient, identified by the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office as Jaquan Anderson, had a heart issue.
