Hundreds gathered Saturday to say good-bye and honor Leah Chase's legacy at a public viewing. People from all walks of life flocked to Xavier University to honor the New Orleans icon.

There'll be another public visitation Monday, from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1923 St. Philip Street. That'll be followed immediately by the Rosary.

Seating at the noon Mass of Christian Burial at the church will be limited. But, the Chase family has announced her funeral Mass on Monday will be broadcast on WLAE television.

Following the Mass, a dirge will proceed to Dooky Chase's Restaurant before the Chase family goes to St. Louis Cemetery No. 3 for a private burial service.

From the cemetery, there will be a traditional second line, led by the Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club, to the New Orleans Museum of Art for a public repast.
