The first day of Fall begins with, not cooler temperatures but the summer heat continues.

A ridge of high pressure will sit over us for much of the week.

"Expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the lower 90s," said WWL-TV Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum.  "The humidity will be a more bearable levels, so it will not feel bad outside."

The ridge of high pressure will remain over us through Thursday. This means more sunshine each day with hot high temperatures in the lower to mid 90s.

The ridge breaks down on Friday, and that will bring us more humidity.  Skies will become partly cloudy by the weekend with a slight chance for a shower. High temperatures will stay in the lower 90s.

Tropics: Tropical Depression 13 is located near Africa. It will likely soon become Tropical Storm Lorenzo, and could become a hurricane in the next few days as it curves northwest over the central Atlantic. Right now models keep it out at sea.

Tropical Storm Karen remains in the eastern Caribbean Sea. It will move north toward Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands by Tuesday into Wednesday with heavy rain and gusty winds. At the end of the week, models show a ridge of high pressure building over the Atlantic which could guide Karen westward toward the US. It is too early to say how close to the US it will track. We will be tracking it closely and will keep you updated.

Tropical Storm Jerry is not strengthening at the moment, but it will likely still be a tropical storm when it gets close to Bermuda late Tuesday or Wednesday. It will then continue northeast out to sea.
