Jefferson Parish officials today announced it has filled the hole in its Family Gras parade schedule left by the Krewe of Caesar's announcement it will no longer parade. The Krewe of Centurions will move from the Friday before Fat Tuesday to the first parade weekend and roll that Saturday.

"Family Gras has always served a purpose," said Jefferson Parish Councilmember Jennifer Van Vrancken. "It is the thing that gathers the crowd and warms them up for the parade. Family Gras has always been about supporting and growing Metairie Mardi Gras."

An all-new krewe, the Magical Krewe of MadHatters, will also parade that Saturday.

Centurion's move now creates a gap in the parade schedule in the weekend prior to Fat Tuesday. Just last week, another Metairie parade, Isis, announced it will instead parade in Kenner. Isis' traditional parade date has been the Saturday evening before Fat Tuesday.
