The Northshore town of Mandeville is getting some positive attention from a huge travel website.

"Expedia named the Mandeville area as the 'Best Place to Escape' in the State of Louisiana," according to a news release from St. Tammany Parish government.

The travel site's article names the best place to escape in each state.  It describes Mandeville as made for slowing life down to a drawl.

"Located on the placid shores of Lake Pontchartrain, the town is the right setting for sailing off into the sunset."

The blog touts lodging options, opportunities to enjoy natural and recreational amenities, paddle the blue ways and to take a moment to relax at a high-end spa.

"Congratulations to Mandeville for retaining this designation on a national level," St. Tammany Parish President Pat Brister said of the town earning this honor for the second year. "St. Tammany as a whole has treasures that those of us who live here, appreciate and work with pride every day to preserve. We certainly appreciate all visitors who choose us as their vacation destinations and we invite them to experience our people, our culture, our great food, and our exceptional way of life."
