The man who crashed into a crowd of people at last year's Endymion parade while driving drunk, will spend five years and six months in prison, with a year suspended and will have to issue a written apology.

Neilson Rizzuto appeared in court Friday in New Orleans for sentencing after pleading guilty in October to several felony counts related to the crash last February in Mid-City.

The judge sentenced Rizzuto to five years for the felony charges he admitted to and six months for the misdemeanors. He also received credit for one year of time served, in addition to the one year suspended.

Despite running into a heavy crowd of parade-watchers, no one was killed in the incident. Rizzuto's blood alcohol content after the crash was 0.232, nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08.

Some victims took the stand during today's hearing. Rizzuto also faces a civil suit filed by one of the victims.
