Fatal Crash

Kenner cops have arrested a driver involved in what they say was a road rage incident that left a pregnant woman and her unborn child dead.

Police charged 45-year-old Shannon Alvarez in connection with the fatal crash that killed 22-year-old Jade Lewis just weeks before she was due to deliver.

Investigators say toxicology results taken after the crash showed that Alvarez was under the influence of controlled, dangerous substances.

Cops say the women were traveling at a high rate of speed on West Esplanade near Power Blvd. when both slammed into telephone poles after a road rage confrontation in January.

Alvarez faces charges of vehicular homicide and feticide.
