Dow closes above 27,000, new closing high for S&P 500

Stocks ended mostly higher today, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average notching its first-ever close above 27,000.

The blue-chip index jumped 227points, while the S&P 500 edged up 6 points, also setting a new closing high. But the Nasdaq Composite slipped 6.

Health-care stocks, including UnitedHealth, Cigna and CVS Health, were among the day’s biggest gainers in the wake of news that the Trump administration will abandon a bid to curb rebates from government drug plans.

Oil futures fell slightly today. August crude dipped 23 cents to settle at $60.20 a barrel. 

Twitter this afternoon suffered a rare, complete outage – going down for about an hour, with the blame said to be “an internal configuration change.”The social-media platform is back up but might not completely functional foreveryone just yet.
