Is there a transparency problem with the mayor of New Orleans? In recent weeks, the public has learned that the LaToya Cantrell administration ordered a lowering of the threshold for speed camears to issue fines in school zones. The mayor also left for a trade mission to Cuba, with no prior announcement.

Some journalists wonder why there was no advanced notice. Political analyst Clancy DuBos says he's been surprised.

"It's the first time I can remember a mayor having a big trip like this and not announcing it," DuBos said.

On the traffic cameras in school zones, DuBos says he agrees with the plan if it's really about public safety.

"I think that's good policy but to not announce it and then bristle at the push back," said DuBos.

DuBos says he believes Mayor Cantrell is well-liked but she's on a learning curve after just six years in the political arena.
