Today is an important deadline when it comes to shipping your holiday shopping: It's the deadline for the U.S. Postal Service's least-expensive shipping to arrive in time for Christmas.

"The last day for retail ground, that's our least expensive service," said USPS strategic communications specialist Sean O'Neill.

After today, O'Neill says if you want a package delivered by December 25, you'll have to use one of their costlier services.

"December 20th will be the deadline for First Class and Priority Mail," said O'Neill, "and December 22nd is the deadline for Priority Mail Express."

UPS has deadlines of the December 20 for 2nd Day Air and December 21 for Next Day Air delivery.

FedEx's last days to ship depend on where the package is going.
