You may have noticed how gasoline has gotten a lot pricier lately. In the last month, gas is up about 25 cents a gallon.

"Look where we were in Louisiana just a month ago, we were just right at two dollars a gallon, but now we're looking today at a statewide average of about $2.23," said AAA spokesman Don Redman.

Redman says they expected it, as gas makers are running out their supply of winter grade fuel before they begin making summer-grade gasoline. He said demand for gas is also rising as the weather warms up and more Americans are driving.

"That, coupled with the increase in the price of crude, now about $55 to $57 a barrel, have all conspired to drive those prices upward," said Redman. "We're looking at forecasting a statewide average, by the time we get into June, perhaps looking at about $2.50 a gallon."

Redman says it looks like prices have stabilized and price increases between then and now will be more gradual.
