Cops: Man arrested after kidnapping, molesting woman waiting for ride

A man is under arrest for kidnapping, sexual battery and obscenity after allegedly picking up a woman who was waiting for a ride-sharing service in Metairie.

A Crimestoppers tip led Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Deputies to 48-year-old Randy Terrance.

Detectives say he told the victim he was her driver, then touched her inappropriately as he drove and touched himself.

"The suspect then drove the victim around, and while driving, reached over and inappropriately touched the victim.  He also exposed himself and masturbated in front of the victim as he drove," Captain Jason Rivarde said in a news release. "The victim was eventually able to escape from the suspect's vehicle and notify the Sheriff's Office of the incident."

He was apparently not affiliated with any ride-sharing service.

"Investigators believe that the suspect was not working as a ride-share driver at the time of the incident, but merely posing as one."
