A trash collector is dead in Terrebonne Parish after Police say a pickup truck driver crashed into a garbage truck this morning.

"Shortly before 6:30 this morning, Troopers with Troop C began investigating a two-vehicle crash involving a garbage truck on LA 24 North near Technology Lane in Gray, LA," Trooper Jesse LaGrange said in a news release.

Investigators say 26-year-old Dylan Morris was tired and lost control of his vehicle, hitting 45-year-old Gerald Houston as he was operating the controls on the side of the stopped garbage truck.

"Houston suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office."

LaGrange says it does not appear Morris was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but was tired.

"Impairment is not suspected as a factor in the crash. The initial investigation indicated Morris was driving fatigued prior to the collision. This crash remains under investigation."
